Stuco & Social Justice Posters

Both the Student Council & Social Justice Club are two organizations I was involved in during my years at TMS School. Student government and community service are two of my largest passions and I was very fortunate to be able to be a part of both during high school. I joined the student council in grade 9 as a class representative and have been an unofficial member of the Social Justice club since I was in grade 7.  I officially joined in grade 8.

They offered me opportunities to test my creativity through various promotions throughout the school year. Using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, I created posters for the organizations' promotions, as well as for my own elections!

Student Council Posters

2016-17 Election Posters

These are the posters from the first school-wide election I participated in! As I was running for secretary, I tried to incorporate concepts that are usually associated with this position (e.g. organization shown through sticky notes & communication shown in the email format of poster 2).

Leadership Seminar Posters 2017

Prior to the 2017-18 student council elections, the current heads decided to give seminars to help and encourage students to participate in the elections!  I tried to use a networking theme for these posters!

Student Council Valentine's Day Dance 2016

The theme that year was 'Head in the Clouds!' The poster and tickets were designed with a 'fluffy' concept in mind!

2017-18 Election Posters

This was a big jump from 'secretary' but I tried using puns once more - the 'stick' one was my favourite! I tried for a bolder and busier concept to mirror my personality!

Student Council Fire & Ice Ball 2017

I had a bit of difficulty pulling off a clashing feel in the posters for this dance since I didn't want something edgy looking and I hit a bit of a 'designer block,' as I got caught up in trying to use a fire and wavy concept. While the posters on the left and in the middle are drafts, I felt it was important to show that it is inevitable that one will stray from a path they thought was the only correct one all along. I still enjoyed playing with brushes and clipping masks in Photoshop!  The final poster is on the right.

Social Justice Club Posters

Freezie Friday Event Poster 2016

Who would want to buy a freezie during the chilly month of November? Surprise - over 1/3 of the students did! The 'Freezie Friday' event was an extension of our annual Halloween food drive and these posters were designed to give you the shivers!

Fuzzy Friday 2016

The Social Justice Club and Student Council worked together in 2016 to advertise the school's annual Fuzzy Friday and Toy Mountain Toy Drive!  Students who brought in a toy were allowed to wear pajamas for the day! The student council members took photos in their pajamas, which were then inserted into the frames! We inserted new photos an emailed them out every week!  Here is the template I used for the teasers!
